Our Return Policy
Chicago Costume Online Shopping Return Policy updated 10/23/17
This return policy applies only for orders placed online and in our Chicago stores.

Orders placed between October 23rd and October 31st are considered Final Sale. We will not be accepting returns between this time period. Thank you for your understanding during the Halloween season. We will adjust our policy after that time.
Please ask all questions on product details or shipping before placing an order.
If you are shopping in our retail stores our policy is ALL Sales Final, as we have the items to try on before purchasing.
- All International orders are considered Final Sale.
- Returns must be started within 48 hours of receipt of your order, and we'll deduct $7.99 for the return shipping from your total refund.
- There is a minimum 20% restocking fee if more than 1 item is ordered and any are returned for a refund. **A restocking fee will not be deducted if an online Store Credit is chosen by the customer, instead of a refund.
- If you are shipping to another address, we may contact you to verify that its a gift or different billing/shipping address.
We will issue you a refund for your original order (minus shipping fees, which are not credited) typically within a week of the receipt of your package by Chicago Costume. Note: During October-December (Holiday season) the refund process may take up to 4 weeks. Banks and credit cards usually take 48 hours to process the refund.
A Return will NOT be accepted if it shows signs of:
- being used, worn or altered
- have cigarette smoke odors or makeup stains
- is missing pieces or accessories that were part of the original items shipped
- or is without the original packaging or garment tags
The following items are FINAL SALE and can not be returned, so please ask us if you have questions before making your order:
- Special Order Items - including all Mascots Props that require a custom delivery
- Hosiery and tights, undergarments, socks and leotards
- Theatrical makeup, cosmetic brushes and tools
- Prosthetic pieces, fangs or other fake teeth
- Wigs, beards and facial hair
- Items from our Clearance section
These items must be returned in the original packaging and cannot have been worn or altered.
- Shoes & Boots / Footwear
Some items from our website have been in our retail sales stores, but we try to take care to not send out shop-worn or damaged items. Please email us immediately if your item arrives damaged, so that we can asses the proper return or exchange.
What if there is a problem with my order?
If there is a problem with your order, or if you have any questions or concerns, please contact us directly at email@example.com and include your order number and concerns.
How do I start a return?
You will need to begin a Return Request, and then we will email a return shipping label once the Request has been activated. Full instructions on how to start a Return here
How do I send back the item(s) I want to return?
Please read through our return policy to make sure your item is eligible for a refund. All returned orders must begin a Return Authorization that must be accessed within 48 hours of the delivery date.
To initiate a return, follow the instructions here. You then need to send your return through a traceable shipper (like ups or fedex). If you return the item without the ability to track the delivery and we don't receive the item, we can not be responsible for refunding that order.

Can I exchange an item if I got the wrong size or wrong style?
Yes, if you received your order and need a different size, we want to make sure that process is fast and easy! We offer exchanges for a different size of a costume or accessory purchased on the site within 48 hours delivery to you. Contact us directly and we will begin an Exchange Request for you.
How long will it take to receive my refund?
We generally process returns within a week of receiving the product back. During October-December (Holiday season) this process may take up to 4 weeks. Please contact us if you have sent back your return, but have not seen a refund or an email from us.
